iPhone Shoot, Part 3: The Final Edit

I couldn’t figure out how many photos to show. One big downside of shooting with an iPhone is that you don’t want the photos to run very big. We’ve all been spoiled by years of DSLRs shooting gigantic files that we can touch up in Camera Raw. I decided for some reason to go back to the stone age and shoot with a $3 app instead of a $3000 professional setup.

So I couldn’t figure out how many photos to show. I wanted to show a ton of photos so that we could play up the “archiving” part of the story, but a bunch of tiny photos didn’t really honor her contribution much. Once I picked out a handful of photos that I knew we needed to run larger, I started to play with having strips of smaller photos as a border for a grouping of 4-6 photos. After a few edits and some rearranging, we got it down to a final layout. The editors loved it, James was excited to do something different, and I felt like we got a dynamic page that told a great story in a small amount of space.
